Catholic Times coloring contest winners announced

Artists contribute colorful celebration of the season

O COME, LET US ADORE HIM — The co-winner of the 2009 Catholic Times Christmas cover contest is Sarah Rose, a sixth-grade student from Golden Eagle and a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Brussels. In celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord, Sarah depicts the wise men confidently approaching the newborn King. They bear their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.Merry Christmas, and thanks, to all the young artists who shared their talents in the fifth annual Catholic Times Christmas cover contest. This year, almost 400 entries made up the field of entries competing for the honor of appearing on the cover of the Christmas edition of the diocesan newspaper.

Again this year, the judges have decreed a tie for first place.

One of the first-place winners is Grace Nolte of Golden Eagle and Blessed Trinity Parish in Brussels. Her colorful illustration appears on this week’s cover.

The other first-place winner is Sarah Rose, a sixth-grade student, also of Golden Eagle and Blessed Trinity Parish. Sarah’s artwork will appear on the cover of the Jan. 3 issue of Catholic Times, in celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord.

Both winners will receive a $25 check from Catholic Times.

Again, many thanks to all the young artists who shared their Christmas spirit with us, and to the parents and teachers who helped them. Merry Christmas to all, from the staff at Catholic Times.
