Retreat to explore healing power of God

ALTON — Father Delix Michel, pastor, will conduct a retreat from 7 to 8 p.m. nightly from Sunday, March 21 through Wednesday, March 24 at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 717 State St.

Father Michel, who earned his licentiate in biblical sciences from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, is known as an enthusiastic and compassionate facilitator, has many years of experience in leading spiritual retreats and is known for tapping into the hearts and souls of participants, according to organizers.

“His psycho-biblical approach can lead you and help you to enhance your personal relationship with God,” they say. “Some people have felt abandoned by God and have been hurt so deeply in their lives that they are even unable to pray to God to find the peace for which they are searching. Come to experience the healing power of God, to find a way to overcome your hurts, and learn how to pray.”

The themes for the retreat include: (March 21) “Experiencing the healing power of God through emptiness and fullness”; (March 22) “Overcoming your hurts through prayer — the power of prayer”; (March 23) “The language of the cross: How does the cross of Jesus talk to us?”; and (March 24) “A personal encounter with Jesus through the Blessed Sacrament.”

In addition, sacrament of reconciliation (confession) will be available each night following the retreat until 9:30 p.m.

There is no cost for the retreat, which is open to all people of any religious denomination. For more information, call the parish office at (618) 465-4221.
