Msgr. Auda to celebrate jubilee with spiritual gift to his parishioners

GILLESPIE Msgr. Lawrence Auda, pastor of St. Joseph’s Parish in Benld and Ss. Simon and Jude Parish in Gillespie, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination in May 2010. To give spiritual dimension to the occasion, Msgr. Auda has scheduled a mission for his parishioners and the Catholic community beginning Sunday, May 9.

On the following Sunday, May 16, there will be a Mass of thanksgiving in Ss. Simon and Jude Church at 10:30 a.m. followed by a dinner at 12:15 p.m. in the K.C. Hall in Gillespie for parishioners and friends.

The evening missions will be Sunday, May 9 through Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in Ss. Simon and Jude Church in Gillespie. These conferences will include Eucharistic adoration and confessions.

The morning missions will be Monday, May 10 through Thursday, May 13 and include 8 a.m. Mass followed by a movie and discussion.

The presenter will be Father Thomas Sullivan, CPM, of The Fathers of Mercy in Auburn, Ky. He will encourage and challenge the parish community to make a stronger, deeper commitment to Christ, his church, and the sacraments. Among the topics he will speak on are the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Virgin Mary, the mercy of God, the Ten Commandments, and the angels and saints.

Born in 1959, Father Thomas is a native of Havertown, Pa. He became a member of the Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy in 1998 and was ordained in 2004. He formerly owned and operated his own roofing company and worked extensively with the Missionaries of Charity throughout the world and with the Padre Pio Center in Barto, Pa.
