The photographic exhibition illustrates some of the principal eucharistic miracles which the Catholic Church has authenticated as having taken place in various countries throughout the ages. There is no admission charge for the exhibition, which is open to the public Friday, June 4, from 1 to 4 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A group of parishioners from Christ the King and Blessed Sacrament parishes in Springfield spearheaded a drive to raise funds to purchase a permanent set of panels of the Vatican exhibit. The group obtained permission from Msgr. Carl Kemme, diocesan administrator, for the panels to be stored in the diocesan archives, to be checked out by parishes and Catholic schools in the diocese.
“More information about how to reserve all, or a portion of the exhibition, for a parish or school, will soon be available,” said Claudia Connelly, CTK parishioner, who initiated the drive to obtain a permanent copy of the exhibition for the diocese.
Each of the 126 miracles associated with faith in and worship of the Blessed Sacrament have been approved by the diocesan bishop where they occurred, and some have the approval of the Holy See. Each of the miracles is venerated at a shrine.
A companion book detailing the 2-by-3 foot panels of eucharistic miracles will be available for sale during the Corpus Christi weekend exhibition. The exhibition has been on EWTN Live, was on display at a Marian conference in St. Louis in January, and a set of panels was on display recently in Quincy. More information about contents of the exhibit may be found on the Web site of the Real Presence Association www.therealpresence.org.
