Registration still open for Wading Deeper 2010

Registration is still open for Wading Deeper 2010, that will take place Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31 at Holy Family Parish at 410 S. State St. in Litchfield. This year’s topic is “Discernment: Conversion’s Partner in Christian Initiation” and the presenter is Sister Donna Steffen, SC.

Sister Donna has just published an article in Pastoral Liturgy magazine (May/June 2010, pages 4-8) titled “Discernment in Parish Ministry.” In her article, Sister Donna writes about discernment, “… this listening to ourselves and others presupposes that we truly believe that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.”

According to Eliot Kapitan, director of the Office for Worship, “Those who work with the RCIA know the importance of discernment in the many steps of the process. What she does in this article is help us apply this learning and practice to other sacramental information and to parish life.”

Kapitan said many people will benefit from participating in Wading Deeper. “This year’s Wading Deeper is not just for catechumenate ministers,” he said. “The Friday night keynote and the closing session will help every staffer, every catechist understand an important step in their critical ministry — and give them practical tools to do it.”

The 2010 Wading Deeper is being co-sponsored by the Springfield and Belleville dioceses and catechist certification credit is granted by each diocese for attendees.
