Kelly to lead all-day retreat, workshop in Collinsville

dl-matthew-kelly-coCOLLINSVILLE — Catholic author and motivational speaker Matthew Kelly will be the main speaker at an interactive workshop called “Living Every Day with a Passion and Purpose” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, 207 Vandalia St.

Kelly, a native of Sydney, Australia, began his lay ministry in 1993. He has traveled in more than 50 countries and spoken to over 3 million people. He is the author of 13 books and has been published in 25 languages. Today, he is based in the United States, and is a popular speaker with students, lay adults, priests and seminarians. He also leads numerous retreats every year.

Kelly’s message of becoming “the best version of yourself” is inspired by Vatican II’s universal call to holiness. He and other speakers will discuss how to practically apply the genius of Catholicism to every aspect of people’s lives, including work, marriage, personal finances, prayer and spirituality, dating, health and well-being, parenting and community involvement.

The event will feature a mixture of music, praise and worship as well as sessions about prayer, Scripture study and an overview of the genius of Catholicism.

Ticket price for the all-day retreat is $99, which includes lunch and refreshments, a book, workbook, CD and DVD, rosary and other workshop materials. A special couples’ offer is also available — the first ticket at $99 and a second, which includes only the event, lunch and refreshments, at $49.

In addition, the first 250 who buy a full-price ticket will receive a free CD from Kelly’s Passion and Purpose series.
