David Seiler, Maggie’s father, suggested rather than financial assistance for the family, which was not needed, a fund-raiser be held for the Ronald McDonald family room located at Children’s Hospital.
Maggie’s neighbors, eighth-grader Madeline and seventh-grader Emily McDevitt asked permission from St. Anthony’s principal, Lynn Byers, to have a jeans day to raise money for the Ronald McDonald family room.
“A lot of our students know Maggie. She went to school here for three years. Her name was on the prayer list at church,” Byers said.
St. Anthony students do not wear uniforms, but the school does have a dress code. “Getting out of uniform is something the students like,” Byers said. The school usually requests a $1 donation for a student to attend out of uniform. St. Anthony’s enrollment is 338. The fund-raiser brought in almost $900 to donate to the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
