Catholic grade school art on display at Benedictine University at Springfield

The annual Springfield Catholic Grade School Art Showcase, sponsored by the Department of Art at Benedictine University at Springfield, is currently on display on campus at the Charles E. Becker Library Gallery, 1500 N. Fifth St.

Catholic grade schools in Springfield including Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral, Christ the King, Little Flower, St. Agnes, St. Aloysius and St. Joseph submitted artwork from kindergarten through eighth-grade students for judging.

The Judges' Choice Award went to Allison George from Christ the King School. First-place ribbons were awarded to Merrie Kelley (Blessed Sacrament), Erin Schweska (Christ the King), Kelsey Cutler and Kate Killian (Little Flower), Madalyn Linderman, Joe Rapacz and Chloe Billingsley (St. Agnes) and Aaleiyah Spaulding (St. Joseph).

A closing awards ceremony and reception for the student-artists and their families will be held at 4:30 p.m. April 12 in the Charles E. Becker Library.
