As part of the expansion of SHG’s West Campus, the school has partnered with St. John’s Hospital to bring an AthletiCare facility and an innovative academic program to the school. Known to be the only program like it in the country, the partnership will serve as a core benefit to SHG students while allowing St. John’s AthletiCare to better serve patients with rehabilitation needs. The clinic will provide athletic trainer support services, licensed physical therapy services for injured athletes and access to on-site orthopedic surgeons. The clinic will be open to the public.
St. John’s staff and the SHG faculty are working collaboratively to develop on-site education programming to provide interested students with a hands-on immersive healthcare experience. Mentorship programs will also be developed to provide students with a greater level of involvement and support as they explore healthcare opportunities. In addition, students, parents, faculty and staff will have access to an array of physical and mental wellness services. The AthletiCare space will be adjacent to the SHG West campus building with a separate entrance and signage.
The AthletiCare facility is scheduled to open at the SHG West Campus location in January 2012.
