Father Richard Chiola, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Springfield, received the award for adjunct faculty member of the year at the graduation of physicians from the psychiatry department at Southern Illinois School of Medicine on June 22.
Father Chiola teaches courses in psychodynamic theory, religion and psychiatry, and will lead group therapy for the resident physicians in the fall semester. He also supervises two residents in their delivery of therapy to patients at the school. Father Chiola is a licensed professional counselor who is certified in sexual addiction therapy and is the director of ongoing formation for the priests of the Springfield diocese.
