Catholic radio station now on air

Written by

EFFINGHAM — Catholic Radio WGMR 91.3 went on the air in Effingham Sept. 29, the Feast of the Archangels – Saints Gabriel, Michael and Raphael (hence the station's call letters). The station is on the air 24-hours, seven days a week, and can be heard within a 30-mile radius of Effingham.

The station is part of the Covenant Network, a listener supported nonprofit organization in St. Louis, which supplies the programming.

"Thanks to the generosity of the Brindisi Consortium, which includes Chris Goedde, William Benz and Tom Vahling from the Effingham area, who donated the money for the FCC construction permit and to build the station, we were able to go on the air during our pledge drive last week," said Tony Holman, head of Covenant Network. "We hope to eventually add local programming at the station."
