Music for the event will include the Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten with the women's ensemble Seraphim and harp. Written in 1942, the holiday piece is scored for three part treble chorus, solo voices and harp, said Kienzler.
The Jubilate choir will present For the Beauty of the Earth by John Rutter, accompanied by harp and instruments, as well as other Advent selections.
The final offering will be Vivaldi's Gloria. It will feature instrumentalists from Millikin University in Decatur and the Springfield community. Vocal soloists are from the Capital Chamber Singers and Seraphim.
A free will offering will be taken up, with the proceeds going to the St. Martin de Porres Center in Springfield. A reception will follow in the school's new cafeteria.
"I hope people will come and enjoy this concert," said Kienzler. "It will be a beautiful way to begin the season of Advent."
