Grease is spring musical at Springfield’s SHG

Grease will be the spring musical at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield. Five performances will be given March 22-25 in SHG's newly renovated Dominican Hall Auditorium, 1200 West Washington. The musical's name was announced Nov. 16 during the SHG choirs' sixth annual Dessert & Dazzle, held at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, in downtown Springfield. The choirs include Encore, Premiere, and mixed chorus.

Karen Danner, SHG fine arts chair, is executive producer of Grease, and SHG's Bill Bauser is the show's director and vocal director. Others include; Gina DeCroix-Russell, choreographer; Karen Ferguson, rehearsal accompanist/assistant conductor; Mary E. Meyers, conductor; T. David Parker, set designer; Jan Walters, costume designer; and Jim Bauser, master set-builder.

In keeping with the fine arts department's tradition of introducing children to live musical performances, a "Sock Hop" will be held for them to meet cast members, get a backstage tour, and learn some 1950s dance moves they'll see in the show.

After the first of the year more information about Grease will be available on the SHG website, www.shg.org.
