Women’s prayer breakfast to be held in Alton

Alton — St. Mary Parish in Alton and Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Bethalto will co-host the fourth annual Women's Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, March 3. The day will begin with Mass at 8 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 519 E. Fourth St. in Alton.

A catered breakfast will follow the Mass, along with a talk titled "Be Thankful in All Things" with nationally known speaker Robert Rogers.

In August 2003, Rogers lost his wife and four children in a flash flood in Kansas. On their way home from a wedding in Wichita, a six-foot wall of water swept their van off the highway into floodwaters. He was the only survivor.

After eight years as a father, nearly 12 years as a husband and 13 years as an electrical engineer, Rogers life changed completely. Soon after, he resigned his career in engineering and answered the call to minister and share how faith and God's grace carried him through his ordeal. He uses his story and original music to teach others to "live a life of no regrets."

The event will conclude at noon.

Cost for the annual breakfast is $15 per person. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Forms must be mailed by Feb. 17. Registration forms may be downloaded at stmarysalton.com. For more information, contact Donna Schwartzkopf at (618) 377-0029 or Marie DeClue at (618) 377-5593.
