When The Bough Breaks is from the PBS documentary series Unnatural Causes which tackles the root causes of socio-economic and racial inequities in health. This segment focuses on how the construct "race" negatively affects health outcomes for people of color — wealthy and poor alike. As Dr. Camara Jones of the Centers for Diseases Control points out, "For most people of color, racism is not an occasional problem but a subtle, everyday stressor that is added onto all the other stressors in a person's life," affecting their overall health.
Pax Christi Springfield has been a voice in the community for peace and justice for nearly 30 years. The organization sponsors such activities as the Vigils for Peace, Good Friday Walk for Justice, and training on non-violence. Through films, speakers, and discussions, PCS offers ways to study and live out the themes of Catholic social teaching that include recognition of the dignity of every human person and an option for the poor and vulnerable.
