The month-long effort focuses on daily prayer in support of three scheduled advocacy days. The focus of the advocacy days will be to seek further legal protections for mothers and their unborn children, primarily through the Ultrasound Opportunity Act.
The Ultrasound Opportunity Act requires a woman seeking an abortion after 7 weeks of gestation be offered the opportunity to receive and view an ultrasound of her baby by the physician who is to perform the abortion, the referring physician, or another qualified person working in conjunction with either physician.
On Wednesday, March 28, volunteers from the Springfield and Belleville dioceses will meet at 10 a.m. in the Stratton Building cafeteria (basement of office building, immediate west of the Capitol) for briefing by Zach Wichmann from the CCI.
From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. volunteers will lobby. Photo identification is required to gain entrance to the Capitol and legislative offices.
Salad and pizza lunch will be offered at 12:30 p.m., compliments of CCI.
Street parking is limited, and metered. Some six-hour parking spots are available. Consider taking the bus or carpooling, say organizers.
