Aquinas Institute of Theology is a St. Louis-based Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry administered by the Order of Preachers (Dominicans). Offering both residential and on-line degree programs, Aquinas Institute of Theology is the only Catholic institution in America to offer a Doctor of Ministry (D. Min.) degree in preaching.
Other degree programs available include a master’s degree in pastoral studies/social work; graduate certification in spiritual direction; master of divinity; master of arts in theology; master of arts in pastoral studies; graduate certificate in biblical studies; and more.
“Our diocese is blessed to have an opportunity for partnership with this respected Catholic educational institution,” Bishop Paprocki said. “Aquinas Institute of Theology is a shining example of the Dominican dedication ‘to preach, to teach, to minister, and to lead.’ I hope that in the coming years, many of our clergy, religious and laity take advantage of this opportunity, to enrich their own faith and to place their leadership and talents at the service of the church in central Illinois.
Beginning with the fall term 2012, Aquinas Institute will extend a 25 percent tuition discount to qualified Catholic students residing in the diocese toward any for-credit graduate course, certificate or degree. Students accepting the discount are not eligible for any further financial aid from Aquinas Institute.
To qualify, student applications for admission to graduate study must include a letter of reference from the Jonathan Sullivan, diocesan director of catechetical ministries and as well as a letter of reference from the student’s catechetical director (a pastor, principal, director of religious education, etc.).
“I am very excited to be working with Aquinas Institute of Theology to make their programs available,” Sullivan said. “I am confident that the parishes, schools, and other ministries in our diocese will benefit from the educational opportunities Aquinas Institute provides.”
Students already enrolled in the 2012 fall term should contact Sullivan in the Office for Catechesis at (217) 698-8500, ext. 165 or email .
Information about upcoming courses and other opportunities will be published Catholic Times and posted on the diocesan website at www.dio.org/catechesis.
