June 22 is the shared feast day of St. John Fisher, bishop and martyr, and St. Thomas More, lawyer and martyr. In 1535, during the reign of English King Henry VIII, both lost their lives rather than violate their consciences.
The date is also the second anniversary of the installation of Bishop Paprocki as head of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.
“All are welcome and priests are invited to concelebrate,” said Bishop Paprocki in his June 3 column in Catholic Times. “I pray that our efforts to protect religious liberty will be successful.”
