DECATUR — Sister Sue Paweski, SP, will give a presentation on the life of St. Mother Theodore Guerin on Sunday, July 29, at 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3850 Lourdes Drive.
St. Mother Theodore Guerin left her native home in France and traveled to America to establish the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. She was canonized a saint in October 2006.
Complete with religious habit and Breton accent, Sister Sue transforms herself into St. Mother Theodore and entertains and informs audiences throughout the United States. Sister Sue weaves the story of the saint from her childhood days on the Breton shores of France to her missionary work in Indiana.
The presentation by Sister Sue will be followed by an activity for children and an ice cream social. There is no charge for the event, which is sponsored by the Family Faith Formation Committee of Our Lady of Lourdes/St. Thomas the Apostle parishes in Decatur. St. Mother Theodore Guerin, the eighth American saint, lived and ministered in Indiana just to the east of the Springfield diocese.
