St. Therese Guild to celebrate 65 years

The Little Flower St. Therese Guild is celebrating its 65th year of existing in Little Flower Parish. The Guild events, which will take place once or twice a month from September through May, will be kicked off on Tuesday, Sept. 18 with a 65th birthday party and potluck beginning at 6 p.m. in the parish center.

All women of Little Flower Parish are automatically members of St. Therese Guild. Regular fall events include a pecan sale, and a craft booth at the Little Flower Craft Bazaar, held this year on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10-11.

The St. Therese Guild mission statement is to assist in a spiritual and material way, any parish, church, deanery or diocesan activity that may be recommended by the pastor and Guild president — and to establish closer relations among the women of the parish for the parish.

The Guild provides food, supplies and volunteers for funeral luncheons; organizes and oversees the parish Angel Tree at Christmas; sends cards to the homebound, ailing and grieving parishioners; provides Christmas caroling to residents at St. Joseph's Home and the homebound; helps deliver Meals on Wheels; assists with the needs of the parish and parish grounds and more. It also supports many community organizations.

The 2012-2013 officers include Barb Wiese, president; Barb Woodcock, vice president; Mary Helen Crowe, secretary and Aimee Waldron, treasurer.
