Quincy parish to host White Mass, Oct. 20

Written by

QUINCY — At 5 p.m. on Oct. 20, the feast day of St. Luke, patron saint of physicians, St. Peter Church in Quincy will have a White Mass in recognition of the dedicated work of Catholic health care professionals, who are called to take care of others from conception to death. A reception will be held in the cafeteria after Mass.

"We are inviting everyone involved in health care from the Quincy area, including Pittsfield, Mt. Sterling, Mendon, and Liberty to attend the Mass," says Marty Venvertloh, parish nurse. "That includes nurses, therapists, social workers and nurse assistants."

Health care professionals will be readers at Mass, bring up the gifts, be the cantor, and many nurses sing in St. Peter's choir.

"Hopefully this will be the first of many such White Masses, which we hope will become a tradition, and pass from parish to parish. This is a community-wide effort," says Venvertloh.
