Quincy parishes sponsor parenting workshop for adults

QUINCY — Quincy's Catholic parishes — Blessed Sacrament, St. Anthony, St. Francis Solanus and St. Peter — are inviting adult parishioners to attend a parenting workshop Feb. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m., or on Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Blessing Hospital Conference Center, 2800 Chestnut St.

The Friday evening workshop includes a light dinner, the Saturday morning session includes a continental breakfast

"Families in Christ, gathered at the table, fuel for the journey" is the topic of speaker Tom Quinlan's address. Quinlan is currently in his 12th year as director of religious education in the Joliet diocese. He has been a parish catechetical leader and served on the governance board of the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership in Washington, D.C., from 2006 to 2010.

"The journey of life is a wondrous, confounding, exhausting and meaning-filled trek," says Quinlan. "God wants to fill us and fuel us as we travel on our path."

The Quincy workshops are funded by a grant from the Springfield diocese Harvest of Thanks, Springtime of Hope campaign. There is no fee to attend the conference, but reservations are required. Parishioners should call their parish office to make reservations: Blessed Sacrament (217) 222-2759; St. Anthony, (217) 224-6477, and St. Francis, (217) 222-2898.
