The Catholic Lawyers Guild of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois will sponsor a legal conference from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Feb. 18 in the atrium of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 East Lawrence Avenue in Springfield.
The guest speaker will be Professor John Breen, writer and presenter on contemporary Catholic issues, who will speak on "Liberty, Equality, Marriage and Law." After a question-and-answer period Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will then comment to the group.
Breen teaches multiple classes at Loyola University School of Law, including a class on Catholic social teaching. He graduated with high honors from Notre Dame, then attended Harvard Law School where he was a member of the Board of Student Advisors. Following graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Boyce F. Martin Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
A Mass at noon will then be followed by lunch. Cost including lunch is $30 per person.
