Catholic Daughters of the Americas hold biennial state convention

Illinois Catholic Daughters of the Americas held their 51st biennial state convention April 26-28. The convention was held at the Route 66 Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield, hosted by eight courts in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.

Della Santos of Court Madonna #147 in Springfield and Marilyn Fitzpatrick of Court Our Lady of Fatima #2555 were the hostess chairs. Attending were 66 members from various courts throughout the state of Illinois in addition to Sherry Niles, national representative and Father Bonaventure Okoro, state chaplain.

Installation of the new officers was held at Church of the Little Flower in Springfield with Niles and Msgr. John Ossola, pastor of Little Flower, installing the new state officers. They are: State Regent Trine Cantu of West Chicago #432, West Chicago; State First Vice Regent Marilyn Backelandt of Court of the Archangels #2600, Antioch; State Second Vice Regent Paula Soppe of Court Isabella #572, Galena; State Secretary Charlene Hartke of Court Columbus #720, Effingham; State Treasurer Judith Schuster of Court Champaign County #1070, Champaign.
