Vandalia ministry sponsors 16th annual conference

VANDALIA — "Abound in Hope" is the theme of Our Sorrowful Mother's Ministry 16th annual conference, Oct. 25-27, in Vandalia. The conference will be held in the ministry's new building at 318 N. Eighth St., which earlier this year Bishop Thomas John Paprocki blessed, and named Sanctuary of the Sorrowful Mother.

Doors open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. The conference will begin at 3 p.m. with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, followed by Mass at 4 p.m. Matthew Baute and Annie Karto, inspirational Catholic singers, will provide music for the weekend. Sister Susan and Apostles of the Interior Life will give spiritual direction; evangelization and help souls achieve sanctity.

Family members of the late Maria Esperanza, considered to be one of the greatest mystics of this century, are coming from Venezuela to share Maria's experiences. Health permitting, her husband, Senor Geo, will also be in attendance.

Father Bill Casey, CPM, a nationally renowned speaker and frequent guest on EWTN, also will be one of the conference speakers.

Chuck Ness, host of The Inner Life on Relevant Radio, and an award-winning journalist and documentary producer, will share his experiences as president and executive producer of Salt River Production Group, as well as his involvement in Pope John Paul II's visit to St. Louis.

There is no attendance fee for the conference, but advance registration is required in order to secure space. Visitors are welcome to bring a lunch and eat on the ministry grounds, tour chapels and the gift shop. Parking is available on the north lot, at Eighth and St. Clair.
