Coggeshall ordained to transitional diaconate

dl-diaconate-ordination-coggeshall-coFLORENCE, Italy — Benjamin Coggeshall, son of Robin and Claudia Coggeshall of Camp Point, was ordained to the transitional diaconate for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest by Archbishop Guido Pozzo, secretary to the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei. The liturgy took place July 3 at the Church of St. Michael and Cajetan in Florence.

Abbé Coggeshall's home parish is St. Thomas in Camp Point. He has five brothers and one sister, one of whom (Jacob) was able to attend the ordination. His uncle, Father Mark Schulte, is a priest of the Springfield diocese and pastor of St. Mary Parish in Pittsfield and St. Mark Parish in Winchester. Another uncle, Brother Aaron Schulte, is a Trappist monk at Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky.

The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest is a society of apostolic life of Pontifical Right whose goal is the honor of God and the sanctification of priests in the service of the church and souls. It has apostolates in the United States, Ireland, England, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, and Gabon in Africa.

Abbé Coggeshall has returned to his seminary in Florence for his final year of study before his ordination to the priesthood in July 2014.
