{mosimage}Father Capalbo received his bachelor's degree in history from QU in 1970, a master's degree from the Catholic Theological Union in 1974 and did doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, England. He began teaching history at QU in 1979. He left QU in 1999 to become vicar of the St. Louis-based Franciscan Sacred Heart Province. He was elected to the QU Board of Trustees in 2003, and served as chair of the academic affairs committee since 2005.

The terms of board members Lucinda Awerkamp-McClain and Brother Bill Schulte, OFM, also expired in May.

In addition to Father Capalbo, Quincy University welcomed six new members to the board of trustees at their annual meeting on May 12. New members are: Cris Cray, a 1986 graduate of QU and currently director of legislation with the Illinois State Board of Elections; Erv Pesek, a 1971 graduate and member the men's soccer team who is currently president of Common Sense Consultants, Inc.; Kathleen Connor, a 1976 graduate of QU and currently director of human resources for Kingster Tradings; Gerald Murphy, a 1970 graduate, formerly active in men's soccer and now vice president for institute development at DeVry, Inc; Teresa Kettelkamp, a 1974 graduate who is retired from the Illinois State Police and is currently executive director of the U.S. Bishop's Office of Child and Youth Protection, and is a member of the advisory board for the Center for Women and Policing; and Father Michael Perry, OFM, a 1977 QU graduate who has served as missionary pastor, teacher, seminary rector, director of development and researcher in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) for nearly 10 years.
