{mosimage} Sister Josine is a member of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, Springfield. She has served in nursing and surgery positions at Hospital Sister-sponsored hospitals and, since 1992, has held various positions at the Motherhouse in Springfield. Currently, she is a volunteer at Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach.

In the nomination, Sister Jomary Trstensky, OSF, provincial superior of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, stated that "Sister Josine is a Franciscan ambassador who continues to exemplify Franciscan values. As a surgical nurse, she brought care to patients and their families and, as a nurse in the Motherhouse Infirmary, she cared for the sisters who had devoted their lives to serving the poor, sick and needy. In her present ministry at Mission Outreach, she brings her technical knowledge of medical equipment and supplies to assist in the sorting of donated items. Overall, her care and respect for the earth is evident in the recycling and redistribution of a wide variety of items throughout the world."

The Franciscan Federation promotes the exploration and study of Franciscan evangelical life and its implications. The organization provides national and regional opportunities to collaborate, gather, and celebrate so that the brothers and sisters can better live the Third Order Regular call to conversion, contemplation, poverty and humility. The theme of this year's Conference was "A Franciscan Dynamic: Right Relationship, Care for Earth, Care for Each Other." During this annual conference, the Franciscan Federation made a commitment in supporting a resolution to challenge corporate control of water.
