Mass marks closing of 40th annual Day of Prayer for Life

TEUTOPOLIS — Father Robert Spriggs will be the celebrant and homilist for the closing 7:30 p.m. Mass for the 40th annual Day of Prayer for Life on Wednesday, June 18, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 203 E. Main St., in Teutopolis. This day is dedicated to all lives lost since the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade in 1973.

The Day of Prayer will begin with 8 a.m. Mass celebrated by Father John Eton, OFM, pastor of St. Francis. Mass will be followed by continuous hours of prayers with all parishes of the Effingham deanery participating. The hour from noon to 1 p.m. will be silent. All denominations are invited to participate in prayers to stop the violence against life any hour of the entire day.

The hour from 4 to 5 p.m. is designated as the youth hour, however everyone is welcome when their schedule allows. Parents and youth leaders are asked to encourage youth to attend.

A reception for Father Spriggs will follow the closing Mass. It will take place in St. Clare Hall, adjoining the church. For more information, please call (217) 857-3060.
