"These three charities do so much good for our community and for families," said Brad Baker, YAM Board president. "We are very happy to help these charities with their mission of caring for others and saving lives."
The Lifetime Pregnancy Help Center offers parenting and counseling programs for parents-to-be and current parents and shows them there are options to abortion. The Center plans to use the money for medical supplies that support their new ultrasound machine.
"When a parent sees an ultrasound, they will most likely not choose abortion," said Debbie Shultz, founder and director of the Lifetime Pregnancy Help Center. "We offer them the true answers for their pregnancy through the power of God."
The Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home" for families who have children in the hospital and provides free housing and meals for families. It costs the Ronald McDonald House approximately $80 a family per night with an average family stay of 11 nights.
"There is no way we can do what we do without the support of the community," said Brian Replogle, Volunteer and Charity Operations coordinator. "Money from organizations and individuals make our place run and allows our visiting families to not have to focus on finding a hotel or their next meal."
Springfield Right to Life is an educational organization that spreads awareness about the dangers of abortion. They host rallies, hand out flyers, have a booth at the Illinois State Fair, and sponsor the "40 Days for Life." Donations help their office, book speakers, and buy literature.
"We had a woman change her mind about getting an abortion when she saw our fetal models," said Catherine Caughlin, president of Springfield Right to Life. "It brings tears to our eyes because we helped save a life."
Since the YAM Charity Mini-Golf Tournament started several years ago, YAM has donated more than $3,000 to local charities.
"It's a perfect combination of great fun and a great cause," Baker said. "Young adults are so generous and we can't thank them enough for helping give back."
