Eight to make final profession, two received into novitiate, two become postulants
{mosimage}ALTON — The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George will celebrate the profession of vows and the reception into the novitiate of several sisters during a Mass on Aug. 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. Bishop George J. Lucas, the main celebrant, will be joined by other bishops and several priests.
Eight sisters will make their final profession of vows, two novices will make their first profession of vows, and two postulants will be received into the novitiate.
The sisters who will make their final profession are Sister M. Consolata Crews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick R. Crews of Ventura, Calif.; Sister M. Mediatrix Bexten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bexten of Freeburg, Mo.; Sister M. Margaretta Dalton, daughter of Dr. Michael E. Dalton of Pleasant Dale, Neb., and Mrs. Elizabeth J. Dalton of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Sister M. Talitha Eckstine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry H. Eckstine of Cottage Grove, Ore.; Sister M. Isidoris Flanagan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Flanagan of Sanford, Maine; Sister M. Martha Weber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Weber of Raymond, Iowa; Sister M. Elise Mierendorf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald G. Mierendorf of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and Sister M. Redempta Fiedler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Fiedler of Buffalo, Minn.
The novices who will make their first profession are Sister M. Catherine Welter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Welter of St. Michael, Minn.; and Sister M. Teresa Pandl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pandl of Waukesha, Wis.
The postulants who will be received into the novitiate and receive their new religious names are Heather Heilman (Sister M. Renata), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Heilman of LaCrosse, Wis.; and Erica Cuerbo (Sister M. Pauline), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Cuerbo of Old Chatham, N.Y.
A reception for the sisters will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. in Suddes Hall, next to St. Mary’s Church, 525 E. 4th Street (at the corner of Henry Street).
