Local K. of C. councils donate to Lifetime Pregnancy Health Center

Representatives of Knights of Columbus Councils in Springfield, Chatham and Auburn recently presented a check for $12,705 to Debbie Shultz, director of Lifetime Pregnancy Health Center (LPHC) in Springfield, to go toward the purchase of a Mobile Medical Center.

kofcdonation“The mobile center will be used to provide ultrasound services to various areas around Springfield so that women who are contemplating abortion will have an opportunity to see their unborn babies and hopefully decide to offer them life,” said Cliff Erwin, overall project coordinator and a member of Council 364.

Erwin said the presentation was possible due to a matching grant provided by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council in conjunction with a fund raiser conducted by Councils 364, 4179 and 10556 last fall and winter, which led to the purchase of an ultrasound machine for LPHC. That machine was blessed by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 19.

“The parishioners of Christ the King, St. Agnes, Blessed Sacrament, Little Flower, all in Springfield; St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham; and Holy Cross Parish in Auburn were all very generous in their support of that effort and donated a total of over $25,000,” said Erwin.

After the presentation of the check, Shultz said, “Our next phase is to purchase a mobile unit so we can take our life-saving services into the community, in an effort to reach more abortion-determined mothers and fathers. We are very appreciative of this financial seed from the Knights of Columbus that is being sown toward our mobile unit. Thank you for encouraging us with the generous gift.”

Shultz is willing to share ultrasound success stories with churches, Knights of Columbus Councils and other interested groups. She can be reached at (217) 523-0100 to schedule a presentation or for questions.
