The 86th annual Knights of Columbus Cooperative Bar-B-Cue, will be hosted by Springfield Council 364 on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 2-7 p.m. at 2200 Meadowbrook Road.
Nearly half of the Knights of Columbus Councils in Illinois participate as cosponsors of the annual barbecue. For many of the councils, the event is their primary fund-raiser to further their charitable work.
Organizers say there will be a variety of food, cold beverages, and musical entertainment for the entire family. The food menu will feature pulled pork and chicken breast sandwiches, bratwursts and hot dogs plus baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and chips.
Drawings for cash prizes totaling $25,000, and numerous door prizes will be held every hour until the grand prize of $10,000 is awarded at 7 p.m.
The Bobby Remack Band will play in the air-conditioned banquet hall from 3-7 p.m. Lynn the Clown will be outside in the picnic pavilion from 3-6 p.m. with face painting and kids games.
The Knights of Columbus Aquatic Center will have an open house and there will be no charge to swim. Admission to the Bar-B-Cue is free.
