GILLESPIE — Victoria Auda, mother of Msgr. Lawrence J. Auda of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, died Sept. 21 at Heritage Health of Gillespie. She was 106.

Born March 16, 1908 in South Wilmington, Ind., she was the daughter of the late John and Jessie (Girot) Ricchiardi. She married Charles Auda in Bunker Hill and he preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1963.

She was a homemaker and a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Altar Society and for many years, lived with her son in the rectory of Ss. Simon and Jude Parish in Gillespie.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Ricchiardi, Louis Ricchiardi and Dominic Ricchiardi; and a sister, Catherine Moruskey.

She is survived by her son, Msgr. Auda, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass was Sept. 26 at Ss. Simon and Jude Church with Msgr. Auda presiding. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie. Kravanya Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
