Day of Prayer for Life to be held June 24

TEUTOPOLIS — The 41st Annual Day of Prayer for Life will be held Wednesday, June 24, at St. Francis Church, 203 E Main St., Teutopolis. All are welcome to come and pray for renewed respect for all human life, and in reparation for our nation allowing 57 million pre-born human lives to be ended by abortion since 1973.

TEUTOPOLIS — The 41st Annual Day of Prayer for Life will be held Wednesday, June 24, at St. Francis Church, 203 E Main St., Teutopolis. All are welcome to come and pray for renewed respect for all human life, and in reparation for our nation allowing 57 million pre-born human lives to be ended by abortion since 1973.

The Day of Prayer will begin with Mass at 8 a.m., followed by eucharistic exposition and prayer by area churches and organizations throughout the day. From noon-1 p.m., there will be silent prayer. Father David Hoefler, vicar general and moderator of the Curia of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, will be the guest celebrant and homilist at the closing Mass at 7:30 p.m. A reception with refreshments will follow in St. Clare Hall, adjoining the church.

The following churches and organizations have traditionally been asked to pray during these hours. However, everyone is welcome to pray at any time desired.

9-10 a.m. — St. Francis, Teutopolis; St. Mary's, Green Creek

10-11 a.m. — St. Anthony, Effingham; CDA #720 of Effingham

11 a.m.-noon — Sacred Heart, Effingham; Secular Franciscans; Robinson; Oblong; Casey; Greenup; Marshall churches

Noon-1 p.m. — Silent hour, all volunteers; all faiths welcome

1-2 p.m. — St. Mary's, Shumway; St. Mary's, Neoga

2-3 p.m. — St. Michael, Sigel; St. Clare, Altamont; St. Ann Edgewood; St. Mary, St. Elmo

3-4 p.m. — Sacred Heart, Lillyville; St. Rose, Montrose; St. Mary, St. Marie; St. Thomas, Newton

4-5 p.m. — St. Isidore, Dieterich; all youth of the area

5-6 p.m. — CDA #1711 of Teutopolis; Immaculate Conception, Mattoon; St. Charles, Charleston, EIU Newman Center, Charleston.

6-7 p.m. — Knights of Columbus Councils of Effingham, Teutopolis, Newton, Neoga, Sigel, Mattoon, Robinson

7-7:30 p.m. — Benediction and silent prayer
