The Office for Catechesis of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, in conjunction with local parishes, is pleased to offer faith formation courses for adults in locations across the diocese. These courses, which are open to everyone, are designed to help Catholics grow in their faith, respond to questions about the church, and make faith-filled decisions in their lives.
Catechists and Catholic school teachers may also attend these classes for credit in the diocesan catechist formation process. All catechists and teachers are required to engage in ongoing learning in order to be more effective communicators of the Gospel to those to whom they are called to minister.
"Adult faith formation is a vital component of the church's mission to 'make disciples of all nations'" said Jonathan Sullivan, director of Catechetical Services. "By deepening our understanding of our Catholic faith we draw closer to Jesus Christ and learn how to live lives of holiness."
Flyers of courses offered in each deanery will be mailed to pastors, DREs/CREs and principals.
