QUINCY — Blessed Sacrament Parish will hold a parish mission, “Becoming Aware,” Sunday, Oct. 22 through Wednesday, Oct. 25. Each evening will begin at 7 p.m. in the parish church at 1119 S. Seventh St.

Presenter for the mission will be Father James Friede, a member of the Augustinian order. Ordained in 1965, he has served as a parish priest and pastor for 13 years and has conducted numerous retreats, days of reconciliation, and parish missions.

Each evening will focus on a variation of the theme “Becoming Aware …”: of God’s presence; of the joy of forgiveness; of the happiness we already have; and of our call to give life to others.

Msgr. Michael Kuse, pastor of Blessed Sacrament, said that the pastoral council views the parish mission as an opportunity for parishioners and anyone else who wishes to attend “to turn off the engines of their busy lives and to reflect on the important matters in their lives.” He said the mission seeks to focus on the gifts God has given us, our families and the community at large. The mission will also provide those attending a chance to reflect on how God might be calling us to use these gifts.

The parish mission is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Transportation and child care will be available each evening. A period of fellowship with refreshments provided will be held immediately following each session, at approximately 8:15 p.m..
