Brown, who also has an MBA from the University of Chicago, served Quincy College from 1967 until 1984 in senior management, as assistant to the president and director of management services.

At various times since then, Brown has served as president of Quincy University's Mart Heinen Athletic Booster Club, president of the Retired Faculty-Staff Association, and president of the Quincy University Foundation.
