DECATUR — Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy, a live theatrical drama, will be presented at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. in Decatur on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.

The one-person performance will feature actress Maria Vargo under the direction of Leonardo Defilippis of Saint Luke Productions.

The production offers attendees the opportunity to experience firsthand the life and message of St. Faustina whose personal encounters with Jesus have inspired a world-wide devotion to Christ's Divine Mercy.

"This drama also brings audiences a riveting modern story that makes Divine Mercy remarkably relevant and urgent for our world today," said Mary Comerford, a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The 90-minute production is suitable for ages 12 and up, Comerford continued. The production will be presented in the church.

Admission is $5 each, or $15 for families of three or more. Tickets are available at all Decatur Catholic Church parish offices.

The Nov. 15 presentation of Faustina is the inaugural event presented by Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Thomas Churches as part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy which Pope Francis declared will continue through Nov. 20, 2016. Coming events at Our Lady of Lourdes for the Jubilee Year of Mercy is Dec. 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception — the day of the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. On Dec. 13, a parish mission on mercy begins at Our Lady of Lourdes led by Father Joseph Epko. Now a Chicago resident, Father Epko is originally from Nigeria and travels throughout the United States doing mission appeals for his home country.
