Sacred Heart-Griffin announces 2016-2017 Illinois State Scholars

Sacred Heart-Griffin High School recently announced that 37 seniors have been recognized as 2016-17 Illinois State Scholars.

Sacred Heart-Griffin High School recently announced that 37 seniors have been recognized as 2016-17 Illinois State Scholars.

The SHG students are: Anna Benoit, Jacob Blair, Janaya Brown, Julia Clark, Claire Conlon, Louis Connelly, Murphy Davis, Connor Duke, Haley Enlow, Nathaniel Fierstos, Lindsay Finnell, Nolan Finney, John Fischer, Andrew Gonzalez, Reed Groesch, Kailey Johannes, Jacqueline Johnson, Thomas Johnston, Donovan Kennedy, Kelly Kiel, Michael Lanham, Kailey Lauterbach, Victoria Londrigan, William Londrigan, Clayton Luker, Bailey Manuel, Luke McDonald, Elyse Morehead, Jon-Owen Parn, Hunter Ridley, Hannah Roberts, Megan Schultz, Austin Servais, Theresa Shaff, Paige Ulrich, Naomi Wilson and Clara Young.

The award, given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), recognized over 18,800 high school students from across the state as this year's State Scholars. Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top 10 percent of high school seniors from over 650 different high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT, or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or on class rank at the end of the junior year.

"It is with great pride that we announce this year's group of Illinois State Scholars," said Eric Zarnikow, ISAC executive director. "In addition to congratulating our State Scholars for their commitment and hard work, we also want to commend their parents, teachers, coaches and mentors for helping these students achieve their goals. It really does take a village. We wish all of these scholars the best as they pursue their future education and careers."
