RIVERTON — St. James Catholic Church will hold a parish mission beginning with the regular weekend Masses on Feb. 27-28 and continuing nightly on Monday, Feb. 29 through Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. The theme of the mission will be "Here I Am, Lord: Becoming an Intentional Disciple."

Father Charles Edwards, director of the Office for Stewardship and Discipleship for the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, will lead the mission. He will preside at the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday, Feb. 27 and at the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Feb. 28.

On Monday evening, Feb. 29, Father Edwards will preach on "Living Your Sacramental Life." On Tuesday, March 1, the topic will be "The Four Pillars of Discipleship." On Wednesday, March 2, the talk will be titled "Here I Am, Lord."

Father Edwards is leading parishes in the Springfield diocese on the path to embrace "Total Stewardship," which he says is a "way of life." He writes frequent columns for Catholic Times and recently wrote: "This is the church which Jesus began 2,000 years ago when he began to call forth discipleship from the people. But without a doubt it is the church he desires to be today as his Spirit wants to live and breathe his grace into our discipleship and hence into the world and the daily environments we find ourselves in."

All services will be held at the parish church at 112 N. Sixth St. in Riverton. A brief reception will be held in the parish hall after each weeknight session. All are welcome to attend. For more information, contact the parish office at (217) 629-7717.
