COLLINSVILLE — Women who would like to participate in Pope Francis’ special devotion, Our Lady Undoer of Knots, can experience the prayers of the rosary and much more at the annual Women’s Day Retreat next month. The retreat is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Rt. 157 in Collinsville.
The event, sponsored by the women of Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Collinsville and entitled “Our Lady Undoer of Knots, Untie the Knots of Our Lives,” will feature special guest Julie Carrick. Carrick is a recording artist and inspirational speaker, who through musical testimony will present her program, “Undo the Knots, as We Live in Grace.”
Deacon James Ghiglione, director of Faith Formation at Ss. Peter and Paul and associate director of Ongoing Formation and Ministry in the Office for the Diaconate — and the former parish life coordinator and then pastoral facilitator for two parishes in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois for a number of years — will also present. He will speak on a portion of his faith journey in his presentation, “God, Unfolder of Rosebuds,” a story of trust in God’s loving plan to unfold the moments of our life in the same way he unfolds the petals of a rosebud.
A collection of first- and second-class relics of saints will be on display in a room adjacent to the main hall. These relics include a piece of Mary’s veil, a piece of the true cross of Christ, and a first-class relic of St. Padre Pio. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorite rosary and/or religious items to touch to the relics.
Reconciliation and eucharistic adoration will also be available throughout the day. The day will also include continental breakfast, luncheon, shopping at vendors’ booths and prize awards.
The cost for the event is $20. Registration forms are available by calling the Ss. Peter and Paul Church office at (618) 345-4343, by visiting www.saintspeter-paul.org or by visiting the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/womensdayretreat. Please call Rhonda Phetsadasack, Women’s Day chair at (618) 346-4425 with any questions.
