Sister Margaret Joanne Grueter, OP, announced recently that she will leave her long-time post as principal at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School (SHG) in Springfield effective June 30.
Sister Margaret Joanne served at SHG for 20 years: four years as assistant principal and 16 as principal.
“My 20 years have been rich, filled with blessings and challenges,” said Sister Margaret Joanne. “I love the people, the mission, the newness of each day and each school year.”
Sister Katherine O’Connor, OP, president of SHG, thanked Sister Margaret Joanne for her many years of service in advancing the mission of Sacred Heart-Griffin. “I personally have appreciated working with her,” said Sister Katherine. “I am especially aware of her attention to the curriculum and to all the deadlines and details that a principal handles on a daily basis and her attendance at our sports events — there are a lot of them — has been amazing and has meant so much to our athletes and coaches. Sister Margaret Joanne will be missed!”
Sister Margaret Joanne said she hasn’t had time to plan for the future, but looks forward to exploring new possibilities beginning in July.
“I will treasure the memories and I will keep the SHG community and mission in my prayers. The time to pass on the torch of leadership has arrived.”
