The annual Our Lady of Good Counsel: Women of Distinction Award and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 18 beginning with a 10:30 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.
Organizers for the Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (SDCCW) are asking each parish in the diocese to select a “Woman of Distinction” who will be recognized by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki during Mass. A recognition luncheon for honorees, family members, friends and parish priests will be held at the Sangamon Prairie Reception Center in Chatham following Mass.
Event information letters have been sent to all parish rectory offices in the Springfield diocese so that every parish can participate in this event to honor those women who have actively lived their Catholic faith and shared their time and talents by doing acts of service and leadership in their parish and the community. Potential honorees do not have to be a member of the parish CCW or other women’s organizations in the parish.
The deadline for registration is June 5. A registration form and luncheon reservation form for the honorees are available from the each parish rectory office and should be sent to Joyce Knodle, 20345 N. 13th Ave., Fillmore, IL, 62032. Registrations received after June 5 will be honored but the honoree’s name and information may not be included in the event booklet. The final deadline for luncheon reservations is June 12. For more information please call Joyce Knodle, registration chair, at (217) 825-5150 or email to or Carolyn Munie, SDCCW President, at (618) 667-9102 or e-mail to .
