ST. LOUIS — Diane Schlindwein, associate editor of Catholic Times, has added to her list of peer recognitions.
The Catholic Press As sociat ion (CPA) selected Schlindwein’s January 2015 profile of Sister M. Pauletta Overbeck, OP, for second-place in the “Best Personality Profile: Non-Weekly Diocesan Newspaper, Circulation 25,001 or more” catagory at the organization’s annual awards banquet June 3 in St. Louis.
The CPA described Schlindwein’s article, Oldest professed Springfield Dominican turns 100, as “a wonderful glimpse into a lively personality, who finds joy in life even in very old age.”
“It seems that the older priests and religious are always inspiring,” said Schlindwein. “When I talked to Sister Pauletta I knew right away that hers was going to be a special feature.”
A staff member of Catholic Times since 1996, Schlindwein was named associate editor last year. Her previous national awards include two first-place Archbishop Edward T. O’Meara Awards (in 2006 and 2014) from the Society of the Propagation of the Faith; a CPA honorable mention in 2005 for Best Reporting on Senior Citizens; and a first-place from the CPA for Best General News Photograph in 2014. Additionally, she has received several local and national awards when working in marketing at The Horace Mann Companies. She was also an assistant editor at the Illinois State Bar Association.
She and her family are members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Springfield.
