JERSEYVILLE - St. Francis Xavier Parish will hold "A Call to Holiness," a parish mission, Thursday, Nov. 15, and Friday, Nov. 16. People from all parishes are welcome to attend. The mission is part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the parish.
The mission will be conducted by the Apostles of the Interior Life, based in Rome. A young and energetic religious community of women, their charism is spiritual direction and helping people of all ages come to a deeper prayer life and closer relationship to Jesus Christ. The Apostles try to change lives as they speak on one's relationship to Jesus in the holy Eucharist and offer encouragement to deepen the prayer life through the sacrament of reconciliation. They will help participants learn the basics of prayer and allow them to spend time in adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Organizers encourage parents to use the opportunity to help the family grow spiritually. Adults are encouraged to use the time to feed the soul. Teens will be asked to consider the radical lifestyle of the Christian.
Both evenings of the mission will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the church, located on Route 67 at 506 S. State St. After each session a period of fellowship will be held for refreshments as well as an opportunity to meet and greet the sisters.
