House Christopher coST. MEINRAD, Ind. — Father Christopher House, chancellor of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois and pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, has been named to two advisory boards at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

Father House is a new member of the Board of Overseers to the advisory board, which advises the president-rector of St. Meinrad, Father Denis Robinson, OSB, on matters related to the school’s programs and performance and addresses strategic questions related to the future of the school. Each member serves a three-year term.

Additionally, Father House joins the Institute for Priests and Presbyterates. The non-governing board advises Dr. Patrick Cooper, institute director, on the opportunities and challenges that face the institute, which has as its mission the development of programs of continuing education and formation. The aim is to help priests sharpen their skills for more effective ministry and to keep both priests and presbyterates healthy, holy and effective in various ministry settings and stages of life.

Father House was ordained in 2002. In addition to being chancellor and a pastor, he is the director of the Department for Canonical and Pastoral Services, director of the Office for the Diaconate, judge for the Diocesan Tribunal, and section prior for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

He graduated from Saint Meinrad College in 1998 and then received his master of divinity degree in 2002 and a licentiate of sacred theology in 2003 from the University of Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. In 2015 Father House earned a licentiate in canon law from The Catholic University of America.

Currently, three seminarians from the Springfield diocese attend Saint Meinrad and will eventually join other diocesan priests who have attended the school.
