QUINCY - Tony and Signe Oakley and Circuit Judge Mark Schuering were to be honored by Quincy Catholic Charities at its annual dinner fund-raiser on Nov. 16.

The three were chosen to be recipients of the Sister Theresa Marie Braun, ASC, service awards given to people who have proven leadership personally and professionally, according to organizers.

"This leadership is evidenced by the dedication and compassion it takes to make a difference in people's lives each and every day in whatever profession they are in," organizers said in a recent news release. "These people strive to assist the least of our brothers/sisters knowing that each person he or she encounters is Jesus Christ.  This person also has demonstrated long-term, selfless dedication to those in need and they are clearly committed to meeting those needs."    

The dinner committee chose the Oakleys for the tremendous things they have done for the Quincy community throughout the years, and chose Schuering because of his values and his care and compassion for others, according to Catholic Charities area director Kurt Stuckman,

 "The honorees exemplify what it means to live the mission of QCC and the work of Sister Theresa Marie Braun," said Stuckman.  "We are humbled to share this exciting evening with these outstanding honorees."

Proceeds from the dinner will support QCC operations, which served more than 7,000 Adams County area clients in the last year.  Through QCC's mission to provide hope and help to those in need, it offers Supportive Pregnancy Services, Professional Counseling Solutions, the MedAssist pharmaceutical assistance program (which secured more than $700,000 in prescriptions last year), Intact Family Services and the Food Pantry.
