For a lifetime of contributions to their Catholic health ministry, the Catholic Health Association (CHA)has announced that two Springfield-based sisters will receive its “Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Sister Jomary Trstensky, OSF, is chairperson of the Hospital Sisters Ministries Board and has a distinguished career of more than 50 years in Catholic health care.

“Sister Jomary’s leadership has been instrumental in the growth and success of Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS),” said Mary Starmann-Harrison, president and CEO, HSHS.

Springfield Dominican Sister M. Dorothea Sondgeroth, OP, will also be honored for her ministry at St. Dominic Health Services in Jackson, Miss. St. Dominic’s is a sponsored ministry of the Springfield Dominicans and is the only Catholic hospital in Mississippi.

“Sister Dorothea has served the people of Mississippi with wisdom and compassion for nearly four decades,” said Sister Rebacca Ann Gemma, OP, prioress general of the Springfield Dominicans.

Both will be honored during the CHA annual assembly in June in New Orleans.
