DECATUR - St. Teresa High School in Decatur is featured as School of the Month in the November/December 2007 issue of Today's Catholic Teacher magazine. The school was honored for its K-9 Kafé project. A similar feature article on the project, written by reporter Cathy Locher, ran in Catholic Times last spring.

The K-9 Kafé, which is located in an area that was once the school cafeteria, is a student-developed and operated coffee shop that opened earlier in 2007 on March 19, the feast of St. Joseph and also the first day of the school's fourth quarter. It features "Bulldog Brew" and "Terrier Tea" and other snack items.

In the magazine article campus minister Dan Boynton, also chairman of the school's business education department, said the completion of the project came about thanks to "most of all the collaboration of the Grace of God and our outstanding students at St. Teresa High School."

Following the success of last year's project, which took less than a year to finish from concept to opening day, Boynton and his students are currently working on another plan. They will be establishing a spirit wear and office supply shop at St. Teresa.

 Today's Catholic Teacher, a nationally circulated magazine with a circulation of 50,000, is published six times a year for teachers in K-12 Catholic schools. The magazine provides classroom ideas, features, reproducible activities, and professional development.It is published by Peter Li Education Group in Dayton, Ohio.
